Last week, the PC Government announced plans to cut Toronto City Council to 25 Councillors for the municipal election on October 22,2018. This is in stark contrast to the 47 Councillors and new ward boundaries set for this municipal election. I do not agree with the way that this change was made in the middle of the campaign period and have joined many of my Council colleagues to request a referendum on this issue. City Council has also asked City Legal staff to explore any options that are available to oppose the process and timing for the cut to Council. I believe we should let our residents decide how they are to be represented at the municipal level. Please feel free to contact me directly with any further questions or concerns.
