Last month, a community meeting was held for the 2908 Yonge St application. At this meeting, residents were clear that they were supportive of responsible development but that this application represented an over intensification of the site; it is too high and too dense.
On April 4th, North York Community Council will be considering the Refusal Report for 2908 Yonge St. Planning staff are recommending that we refuse the application for a 13-storey mixed use building containing 85 residential units and 421 square metres of at grade retail. I will be supporting staff recommendations to refuse this item and have asked my colleagues on Community Council to do the same. Should the applicant appeal this decision to the Ontario Municipal Board I will be requesting City Planning and Legal staff to oppose them.
